E-Tex Land and Timber Company is the oldest and most reliable timber and land management firm in East Texas. E-Tex is a leader in "best practices" for renewable forestry.

E-Tex Land and Timber Company was founded by Michael Birdwell in 1977. The family tradition continues today as his son, Michael (Wayne) Birdwell continues to operate the business with the same values as established by his father years ago. Today, the key personnel includes Michael, who runs the company along with Chris Loftin, who runs the logging sites, and "Scooter" who operates the big articulated cutter (shown above).

E-Tex is different than what we'd call "cut and run" outfits. The company takes a modern approach to timber and land management that genuinely focuses on the property owner's goals:

Land Stewardship: E-Tex treats your land as a renewable resource. Land that is properly harvested and managed will continue to contribute to the environment in positive ways and at the same time will provide future harvests.
Marketing of Cut Timber: Some outfits will cut everything they can and deliver it to one or two nearby mills. At E-Tex, your timber is harvested and marketed to nearly three dozen mills in East Texas and Louisiana.
Conscientious Work: When E-Tex has harvested your land, you'll be proud of the way the work was done. Trees are windrowed to keep clean-up of tops easy. The company can even refer firewood harvesters to reduce wasted tops.
